This work started as an exploration beyond the limits of photographic surface. It began by cutting through the image bearing emulsion of a photograph and peeling it off of its paper support. Over time it evolved into a materially driven study of photographs characterized by cutting, bending, folding and layering a series of images. These images are then presented together in a kind of taxonomic display, in which, through their individual deformations, the photographs perform their own depth and three dimensionality, hint at various and ubiquitous photographic themes and subject matter and cumulatively outline a kind of lexicon for the possibilities and potentialities of photography itself.
